Vartry Rowing Club’s Celtic Challenge for Cancer services in St. Vincent’s:

08/10/2019

Vartry Rowing Club in Wicklow adopted St. Vincent’s Foundation (Cancer Care) as the beneficiary of their fundraising initiatives, following the death late last year of the wife of one of their members.

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, their ladies and mens crews did a sponsored competitive row from Arklow to Aberystwyth in Wales. Also as part of this fundraising initiative, they did a bag pack in Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt, M&S in Dundrum and also held some Table Quizes.

Their total proceeds of €14,070 were recently presented for Cancer Care services here in St. Vincent’s (see photo below).

This initiative by Vartry was a highly ambitious undertaking, requiring collaboration not alone within Ireland, but wider afield. It is the very first such activity organised to raise funds for St. Vincent’s.  On behalf of our patients we are deeply indebted to everyone concerned.

Vartry Rowing Club have raised over €100,000 in recent years for various different charities. We thank them sincerely for donating to Cancer Care in St. Vincent’s this year.
